If you are a TikTok user you know it can be addicting and take up way more time than you planned. I am guilty of watching it at night before bed and getting the TikTok video telling me to stop watching because I have been on the app for too long. Now sometimes I listen and go to bed, but majority of the time I will swipe past it as soon as I see the guy come up on my screen. TikTok is trying to come up with different ways to get people to realize how much time they are spending on the app so they started a screen time control tool.

TikTok has announced the addition of a number of new features aimed at preventing users from becoming absorbed in the service’s endless feed of addicting short-form videos. After using the app for a prolonged, user-defined period of time, a new tool will display a reminder, adding a new protection to the existing daily limitations. If a teen (aged 13 to 17) spends more than 100 minutes in the app in a single day, they will be requested to use the screen time control tool, says the The Verge.

TikTok is also introducing a new screen time dashboard, which displays an overview of app usage. The total time the application has been used, a breakdown of day and night use, and a daily counter for the amount of time each user has spent on TikTok are all included in the statistics.

The launch of TikTok’s additional features follows the roll out of similar tools to other apps, which are aimed at helping users control their time spent on social media and other entertainment apps. On iOS and Android, Apple and Google both allow app limitations to be set.

Some people use Instagram to scroll through memes and reels so they can send them to friends while others are trying to create a platform. Ever wonder why one photo you posted got more view versus one you posted in the past? Believe it or not, there is a science to it all. Everything has to do with timing. We’re talking day, time, all the way down to the hour. It also depends on what kind of content your posting. Who would think there is so much that goes into posting on social media??

What time should you be posting?

Depending on who you ask, the answer will vary but a study done by Compare The Market found that Instagram users tend to be scrolling right after leaving work- some on their way home. They recommend that you post your photo between 4:30pm-6:30pm during the week.

Influencer Marketing Hub has done their own research and suggest that users should post at different times depending on the day. For example, post at 11am on Wednesday, 2pm-3pm on Thursday and 10am on Fridays.

Content vs. Compelling Content

Another key to getting the most views on your Instagram post is making sure you are providing compelling content. Influencers are constantly posting everything they are doing but most of us could care less. We tend to pay more attention to those who are posting content that grabs our attention. People will skip over a story of you brushing your teeth but might stick around to watch the tutorial of how to make a peach cobbler. Long story short, don’t post content for the sake of posting. That can end up in lessening the amount of followers you have and then you will have to focus on not only prime posting time but also how to gain your followers back!

There is a lot more that goes into social media other than just posting and liking. The people who do this for their career are following the trends and constantly trying to figure out how the algorithm works so they can get the most views. The game taking social media by storm is called “Wordle”. It’s composed of blocks colored yellow, green and grey. The way it works is there is a secret word, and you are trying to figure out what it is. Sounds easy right? The catch is that you only have six tries and once you use them all, you can't play again until the next day when there is a new “Wordle”.

Wordle was created by a New York City software engineer named Josh Wardle. He created the game for his partner Palak Shah who loves word games. He passed it around to his family for a few months and it became a big hit! Wadle then decided to share it with the world in October of 2021. It was a slow start with only 90 people playing but by January 2022 there were more than 300,000 people playing. People got frustrated only being able to play one round so software engineer, Katherine Peterson, built an unlimited version and released it on Twitter.

No one is sure how it got to be so popular so quickly, but everyone seems to agree that they love playing it. The “Wordle” is the same for everyone playing and you can share your score with everyone who is playing around the world.

How do you play?

The goal of the game is to guess the five-letter mystery word known as the “Wordle” according to Saman Javed of Yahoo News. After you type in each guess, the color of each tile will change. Green means you got the letter correct and it's in the right spot. Yellow means the letter is correct but in the wrong spot in the word. Grey means that letter is not in the word at all.

Some people say the best way to play is by starting with a word that has a mixture of constants and vowels, so you give yourself more options. By your sixth guess, you have to get the correct word by using all the letters you have guessed in round 1–5.

Apple has developed the Find My ecosystem with AirTag, an iPhone accessory that provides a private and secure way to easily locate the items that matter most.

AirTag is a little accessory with that lets iPhone users to securely locate and keep track of their valuables using the Find My app.

The elegantly designed accessory, helps iPhone users keep track of and find the items that matter most with Apple’s Find My app. Whether attached to a handbag, keys, backpack, or other items, AirTag taps into the vast, global Find My network1 and can help locate a lost item, all while keeping location data private and anonymous with end-to-end encryption. AirTag has been available to the public since the end of April. Apple customers can purchase AirTag in one and four packs, for $29 and $99 respectively.

What makes AirTag even cooler is the fact that it can be personalized. Specifically, customers can personalize AirTag with free engraving, including text and a selection of 31 emoji, when purchasing from apple.com or the Apple Store app.

According to Apple, “Each round AirTag is small and lightweight, features precision-etched polished stainless steel, and is IP67 water- and dust-resistant.2 A built-in speaker plays sounds to help locate AirTag, while a removable cover makes it easy for users to replace the battery.3 AirTag features the same magical setup experience as AirPods — just bring AirTag close to iPhone and it will connect. Users can assign AirTag to an item and name it with a default like “Keys” or “Jacket,” or provide a custom name of their choosing.”
