This Just In: Apple to Produce Faces Shields & Donate Masks!
Apple CEO, Tim Cook, announced on Twitter today that “Apple will design, produce and distribute more than 1 million face shields a week.” According to an article on Linkedin, “The protective gear will first be distributed to medical workers in the U.S. with a goal to expand distribution overseas. The tech giant has also sourced 20 million face masks to donate globally in a bid to slow the spread of coronavirus.” “We’re working continuously and closely with governments at all levels to ensure these are donated to places of greatest need,” said Cook. He also stated “Our design, engineering, operations and packaging teams are also working with suppliers to design, produce and ship face shields for medical workers.”According to CNN, “The first shipment arrived to hospitals in Silicon Valley and will be shipped to other hospitals in the United States.”
Since we are most definitely in a shortage of supplies, it’s good to know that the owners of the products we use (and rely on) everyday are trying to give back to the community and slow the spread of the virus. The sooner we all work together, and accept that this is our new way of living for the time-being – the faster this will be over.
